Justin Adams & Mohamed Errebbaa
Guitarist and producer Justin Adams joins forces with Moroccan Gnawa master Mohamed Errebbaa in a collaboration that bridges North African trance traditions and raw, guitar-driven groove. From his early work with Jah Wobble’s Invaders of the Heart to collaborations with Robert Plant, Tinariwen, Rachid Taha and Juldeh Camara, Adams has long explored the rhythmic and spiritual power of African music. Errebbaa began performing with Sufi brotherhoods in Rabat at the age of ten, and after a decade of initiation into the Gnawa tradition, received his guembri and the title of Maalem — master of the tradition. They summons the deep trance energy of the Gnawa repertoire while drawing on Adams’ blues roots and a shared love of heavy, hypnotic groove. Their live sets are joyous, physical and deeply spiritual — music that moves the feet and the soul.
