Folk at the Silk Mill

We curated and promoted a series of intimate folk concerts at the Silk Mill in Frome, Somerset, bringing world-class acoustic music to one of the region’s most atmospheric arts venues. The series celebrated the breadth and depth of contemporary folk, featuring some of the most distinctive voices and instrumentalists on today’s scene. The aim for the Silk Mill series was to create a listening space of rare intimacy—one that blurred the boundaries between artist and audience. I sought out artists who not only excel musically but also bring deep emotional connection and storytelling to the stage. The Silk Mill’s unique setting—with its warm, resonant acoustics and candlelit atmosphere—provided the perfect backdrop for this kind of encounter. Each concert was curated to feel like a one-off shared moment, where international-calibre musicianship met the immediacy of a small, attentive room.

As both curator and promoter, we managed every element of the events: artist booking, marketing, ticketing, technical production, and audience experience. The result was a programme that sold strongly, built a loyal local following, and demonstrated how small-scale venues can host international-calibre performances with warmth and authenticity.
